Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind

Many emotions are tearing at us as we grieve the death of our sister Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind.

We are consumed by anger, defiance, confusion, sadness, horror, and fear.

We can’t find the words for our prayers.

In the midst of this unspeakable tragedy, however, our determination to work for the end of all violence against women is fortified.

We refuse to give up. We refuse to stifle our longing for peace and justice.

May broken hearts be broken open

to all motherless babies;

to all women who are violated by perversion, greed, selfishness, and power;

to the pain of mothers, grandmothers, daughters, and all our sisters-in-love;

May the water which bore Savanna up and gave her back to us

carry us too,

giving us life.
